The Philosophy of Bee

Silent week is coming. We have twelve days free for this silent week. Actually, silent week is not a real holiday, because we had to study to face the final test in the next, after the silent week finished. So, it is time for me to return home to my hometown, Bekasi.

When I arrived home, I got an interesting news from my father. He was invited to the launching of a new icon of Bekasi regency. My father told me that this new icon launched at the appropriate moment with new years 2009. It is very unique and cute icon, because it use a bee with an attractive color.

In that event, the launcher explained about the new icon. Why they choose a bee for the icon of Bekasi regency. From the explanation, we can know that bees are very useful for human. They produce pure honey for us. Their sting can be used for therapy or alternative medicine. They also have good characters, such as, obedient to the leader and share their works together or we usually call as “gotong-royong”. So, we can watch and imitate their good characters and apply in our daily-life.

It remain me when I was in the 11th grade of senior high school. My class was sains-5, and we also used bee as our icon and put it on our jacket. In that time, we didn’t know exactly what the meaning of the bee is. We just used it because it looked very cool and cute. But now, it is very satisfied for me to know that a bee have a good philosophy. So, we didn’t choose the wrong icon.

It is the new icon of "POLMAS" in Bekasi regency

And it was my class icon when i was in the 11th grade

The Holy Eid Adh

Eid Adh is called as sacrificial day. It is one of the holy big celebrations for moslems all over the world. It is called as sacrificial day because moslems sacrifice animals, such as camels, cows, sheeps, and goats in this day. Especially in Indonesia, they usually sacrifice cows, goats, and sheeps because there aren't camels in this country. Originally, The Sacrifice was done by Abraham. He sacrificed his son, Ismail, to show his obedience to Almighty Allah swt. But finally, Allah swt replaced Ismail with a sheep. And after that moment, Allah swt commanded moslems to sacrifice animals. Celebrated on Dzulhijah 10th, it is time for moslems all over the world to show their gratitude, obedience, and dedication to Almighty Allah swt.

Eid Adh is started by praying together in the mosques or fields in the morning. After that, people will come together in the yard of mosques or in the fields to watch the sacrifice. Then, the meats will be given to the moslems in that area.

We also call Eid Adh as "Lebaran Haji", because on Dzulhijah 10th, people who make the pilgrimage to Mecca will complete all of the religious service parts there. When i was child, i was always excited if The Eid Adh came. Because it means that my neighbor who went to Mecca would come home immediately. They would bring some merchandises for their neighbor, such as Zamzam water and henna. And they would give henna to the girls, included me. My friends and i were very happy if we got henna from Mecca. Then, we would use it in our nails.

It's Shopping Time!

If we go to the central Bandung, we will find one of the biggest markets in Bandung. It is Pasar Baru. Located on Otto Iskandardinata street, Pasar Baru is the oldest market in Bandung. As a market with lower prices, Pasar Baru attracts a lot of visitors from all over the cities in West Java.

Pasar Baru has been renovated for several times. It has seven floors with many interesting shops. We can find anything that we need, from foods and drinks to clothes and shoes. There are many shops which sell many kinds of foodstuffs, such as vegetables and meats, on the basement. On the first floor and second floor, we can see many kinds of clothes, shoes, and jackets. On the third floor, we can find many kinds of cloths and carpets. We can also find clothes and bags on the fifth floor. If we get hungry while we are shopping, we can go to foodcourt on the sixth floor which offers many delicious foods and drinks.

when we walk out from Pasar Baru building, and go to the left or the right side, we will see many shops on the edge of street. It looks like Malioboro street in Yogyakarta. The shops offer many stuffs and clothes too. They usually give lower prices than the shops in the building.

Pasar Baru is well known because it has reachable prices. We can make a deal with the seller to get a good price for us. But, don't go to this market on weekends if you want to shop comfortably, because it will very crowd and hard to move. Anyway, it is a very pleasant place for shopping. If you are a "Shopaholic" person, you will love this place.

Welcome To My Castle

Hi, here is the most comfortable place in the world. It is my room. It is big enough, about three point three meters. So, it is square. The color of my room is pink. Almost all of my stuffs are pink because i want it matching with the wall. My room has a door on the right corner. And beside the door, the small window with pink courtain.

Let’s talk about my stuffs. I put my bed under the window because i want to make my room looks wider. The bed has pink bedcover with Disney Princess print. I have two dolls to accompany me sleeping. They are Teddy Bear and dolphin dolls. My Dolphin doll called “Aqua”. I love Aqua because it’s special present from someone when I celebrated my sweetseventeen.

Accros my bed, there is a television. It is on a little cupboard. Beside the television, I put some girl’s things such as table clock, little pig box for saving money, and ribbon. I also put some clothes in the cupboard. There is a shelf made from bamboo to put some foods and snacks beside the cupboard. I also put my iron, plates, and glasses in it.

On the right corner from the door, there is a bathroom. It is not too big, just about one point one a half meters. Beside a bathroom, I put two styrofoams for my “Photo Corner”. I also put a filling cabinet and a bamboo shelf. The filling cabinet have five shelfs. I use it for my clothes, I put my clothes in it. And in a bamboo shelf, I put my textbooks, novels, and comics. So, that’s all about my lovely room. I keep this room carefully because it is my second home.

Just A Profile

Hello, my name is Indah Setyawati. I'm student in Indonesia University of Education, Bandung. It's far from my house, so i live in a rent house at Geger Kalong. I was born in Bekasi eighteen years ago. I'm from Cikarang, Bekasi. We call it an Industrial City. There are many factories in my city. Because of that, the weather is very hot, even in the rainy season.

I'm from a little family. I just have one younger brother, his name is Arif Budi Setiawan. He is in third junior high school. Besides my parents and my brother, I live with my grandmother and four cousins in my house. I never feel lonely. It's very different when I must stay in my rent room. I always feel lonely here. But, i have nice class-mates. I never bored when I go to campus.

Let's talk about my hobbies. I love reading novels and manga. Do you know manga? It's Japanese comics. I love it, because it entertains me very much. But I never try to draw a comic, because I cannot draw well. So I just enjoy reading and collecting it. And about the novels, I usually read romantic novels, such as Teenlit and Metropop. But sometimes I also read mystery novels such as The Davinci Code and Digital Fortress. Besides reading, I also like dancing. I started dancing when I was in kindergarten. I love anykind of dances. Especially for traditional dance. But i think my ability in dancing is just in the basic level. So I want to explore more and more. I don't like listening to music, because my knowledge about music is not good. I always become the latest to know about the hits songs.
